I left Hatfield Theater last night in complete awe.
Of course, the energy, drum beats, and overall performance struck me like lightning (in a good, wake-up kind of way)--but I loved the overall progression of the show as a whole, by giving a context to what taiko is (its traditions and the connection between Japanese and Japanese Americans) and showing each performers' insight on how they got involved in taiko and why taiko means so much to them. The show was performed beautifully and put together so well! I not only love the art form of taiko, but I also appreciate how taiko connects the performers with their heritage.
Bottom line: You guys are badass and inspiring. Keep doing what you do. And I thank you for it.
Come read what we've been up to! This blog is written by the TAIKOPROJECT members about various experiences we're having while on the road, performing, etc. You can also check us out online at www.taikoproject.com.
